Instant Pot Applesauce
The Instant Pot does all the work in this quick and delicious homemade applesauce
Prep Time 10 minutes mins
Cook Time 10 minutes mins
- 8-10 large apples, peeled, cored, roughly chopped Any variety (Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, McIntosh, Braeburn)
- 1 cup water (or apple juice or apple cider) If you use juice or cider, your applesauce will be sweeter
- 1 TBSP Optional white, brown sugar Or Lakanto Golden Monkfruit for low carb
- 1/2 TBSP Optional fresh lemon juice Adds acidity for canning, brightens flavor
- 1/2 tsp Optional cinnamon or pie spice
Peel, core, and chop the apples. Grab your handy OXO Swivel Peeler and get peeling! Chop the apples into 1-2" chunks. Add apples and liquid to Instant Pot. Toss to mix.
Prepare Instant Pot for cooking. Secure the lid, cook on manual (or high pressure) for 9 minutes. Do a quick release of the pressure.
Mash the apples. Transfer the apples to a bowl. For homestyle applesauce, simple mash a few times with a potato masher or large fork. For a smooth applesauce, let it cool a bit then give it a few pulses in the blender (or food processor, or immersion blender, or magic bullet- whatever works for you)
Check for desired sweetness and spice. Now is the time to add sugar or spice if desired. **Note for low carb folks- Lakanto Golden Monkfruit Sweetener works nicely in this recipe if you're trying to keep carbs down
**If using a slow cooker in place of Instant Pot:
Add the peeled and chopped apples to your slow cooker. Toss in lemon juice and 1/4 cup water.
Cook on LOW for 4 hours.
